Convert HEIC, HEIF, and JPG photos — both directions, for real

Turn iPhone photos into JPG, or JPG into a genuine HEIC file. Conversion runs on our server using the same open-source engine that powers HEIC support across the industry, so the output is a real, standards-correct file every time.

  • Batch convert unlimited photos at once
  • Adjustable output quality, no forced compression
  • Uploaded photos are deleted immediately after conversion

    How the converter works

    1. 01

      Add your photos

Drag HEIC, HEIF, or JPG files into the tool, or click to choose them from your phone, camera roll, or computer. There's no limit on how many files you add at once.

    2. 02

      Set your output quality

Use the quality slider to balance file size against sharpness, then convert. Your file is sent to our server, encoded, and streamed straight back.

    3. 03

      Download your files

Save each photo individually, or grab everything at once as a ZIP. The copy on our server is deleted the moment your download completes.

HEIC, HEIF, and JPG: what's the difference?

These three formats all store photos, but they compress and package image data differently. Understanding the difference explains why conversion is sometimes necessary in each direction.

    HEIF

High Efficiency Image Format is the underlying container standard. It can hold a photo, a burst of photos, or a Live Photo, compressed far more efficiently than older formats — roughly half the file size of an equivalent JPG at the same visual quality.

    HEIC

HEIC is Apple's specific implementation of HEIF, using HEVC (H.265) compression. Every iPhone since the iPhone 7 saves Camera app photos as HEIC by default, which is why HEIC files are so common on Windows PCs and older apps that can't open them.

    JPG / JPEG

JPEG is the universal photo format supported by virtually every device, browser, printer, and piece of software made since the 1990s. It's less space-efficient than HEIC but wins on compatibility, which is the main reason people convert between the two.

Converting JPG to HEIC produces a smaller file at similar visual quality, useful for archiving large photo libraries. Converting HEIC to JPG trades some of that efficiency for universal compatibility with email attachments, older software, websites, and printing services that don't recognize HEIC.

Why convert photos with this tool

    Real HEIC output

JPG to HEIC produces a genuine, standards-correct HEIC file encoded with libheif — not a renamed JPG pretending to be one.

    Deleted immediately

Photos are held only for the moment it takes to convert them. There is no storage, no account, and no history of what you've uploaded.

    No installs, no apps

Skip the App Store or unfamiliar desktop software. Everything runs on the page you're already on, from any device with a browser.

    Batch conversion

Convert one photo or many in a single pass, then download everything together as a ZIP file instead of one at a time.

    Quality control

Choose exactly how much compression to apply, so you can favor file size or image detail depending on where the photo is going.

    Free, no limits

No account, no watermark, no daily conversion cap, and no price for higher volumes.

    Frequently asked questions

Is this HEIC to JPG converter really free?

Yes. There's no cost, no sign-up, and no limit on how many photos you convert.

Do my photos get uploaded to a server?

Yes, briefly. Conversion runs on our server so HEIC and JPG files are encoded correctly and consistently. Your photo is processed in memory or a short-lived temporary file and deleted immediately after the converted file is sent back to you. It's never stored, viewed, or shared.

Will converting HEIC to JPG reduce photo quality?

There's a small, controllable amount of quality change because JPG compresses differently than HEIC. Raise the quality slider toward 100% for a visually lossless result, at the cost of a larger file.

Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?

Yes. Drag and drop as many HEIC, HEIF, or JPG files as you like, convert them together, and download them individually or as a single ZIP file.

What is the difference between HEIC and HEIF?

HEIF is the container standard. HEIC is Apple's specific implementation of it, using HEVC compression, and is the format iPhones save Camera app photos in by default. For conversion purposes, the two behave the same way.

Can I convert JPG to HEIC?

Yes. This tool encodes a genuine HEIC file on the server using libheif, the same open-source engine behind HEIC support in many photo apps and operating systems.

Does this work on iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac?

Yes. Because conversion happens on the server, any device with a modern browser can use it, including iPhone, iPad, Android phones, Windows PCs, and Mac computers.
